Indigenous Education and connection to the land:

Vincent Massey Public School is learning about and following the Sacred Teachings of the Indigenous Culture. Septmber is the month where we will be focusing on Courage.

Courage is represented by the bear.  The mother bear has the courage and strength to face her fears and challenges while protecting her young.  The bear also shows us how to live a balanced life with rest, survival and play. To face life with courage is to know bravery. Find your inner strength to face the difficulties of life and the courage to be yourself.  Defend what you believe in and what is right for your community, family, and self.  Make positive choices and have conviction in your decisions.  Face your fears to allow yourself to live your life.

Hello VMPS Family,

I am looking forward to seeing everyone on September 7th. Please enjoy the weekend, your time with your family, and have the best time you can have.

Please note some important information below and find the link to my Welcome video:

Please watch my new video here: Welcome Video!

T-Z - 8:30 enter school

Screening

All staff and students must self-screen every day before attending school, using the provincial school screening tool. Any staff, student or visitor who does not pass the screening procedures should not attend school.

All staff and students who are experiencing any symptom consistent with COVID-19, as identified in the screening tool, must not attend school and should follow the guidance provided in the screening tool, which may include seeking appropriate medical attention as required, and/or getting tested for COVID-19.

Student masks

Students in Grades 1 to 12 are required to wear properly fitted non-medical or cloth masks indoors in school, including in hallways and during classes, as well as on school vehicles, with reasonable exceptions for medical conditions. More information is available at www.kprschools.ca under Mask Protocol.

While students in Kindergarten are strongly recommended to wear masks, we strongly encourage Kindergarten students to wear cloth masks in indoor spaces, as well as on school transportation vehicles. Vincent Massey PS prides itself on safety of our students and staff and therefore feels that masks help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other pathogens so will be expecting Kindergarten students to wear masks, however, accommodations (such as mask breaks), upon request of parent to Principal, may be determined.

Masks may be temporarily removed indoors to consume food or drink, with a minimum distance of two meters maintained between cohorts and as much distancing as possible within a cohort. Where they can be worn safely based on the activity, masking is encouraged for engaging in indoor physical activity.

Students are not required to wear masks outdoors, but distancing will be encouraged as much as possible. Students are expected to bring their own masks to wear on student transportation and at school. Non-medical three-ply masks will also be made available by schools for students if needed.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!!

Have an absolutely, terrific, amazing weekend!

Mr. Shea
